Georgia Adobe™ builds and installs many kinds of equipment for our clients and a Biogas Plant is one of our favorite types of equipment to add to both conventional homes and off grid homes too, as that Biogas Production, can solve many problems of life's little needs, both off grid and on grid !
A basic explanation of the benefits gained by all that choose to have a Biogas plant installed is in order, to begin this introduction, as this will likely show all interested, some of the many reasons you should have Georgia Adobe™ build a Biogas Plant for you, if you can’t build one for yourself. The video below shows a reduced size version, of the Digester Tanks Georgia Adobe™ often builds for our clients, but it include instruction for most DIY builders to follow when building a small Digester at home.
1st, Waste streams of several kinds can become an asset, thus less of a problem, when delivered to the Digester Tanks as a feeding of natural bacteria , thus this reduces or possibly even eliminates, in some cases, the need for a septic tank.
2nd, When properly insulated through compost, the Digester Tank can develop high enough temperatures to produce ample warm water for domestic uses and home heating, all year round if required, ( if a properly sized heat exchanger coil, is wrapped around the upper 1/3 and top of the Digester Tank), all the while maintaining, a constant gas production all the year and a natural fertilizer from the effluent expelled if every day feeding of the Digester Tank is maintained.
3rd. The Compost surrounding your Digester Tanks can be Inexpensively insulated with straw bales and plastic sheeting, and compost can be changed periodically and used for compost added to your tray & garden production and to open fields to enhance their crop production too. Last, the yearly or later cleaning out of Digester Tanks produces a field enhancing particulate material, that can make those fields more productive too, when spread evenly as a top dressing of liquids and solids, or plowed into the field. The result is normally a higher mineral count crop production with less ground water pollution.
4th, The conversion of your waste streams into assets, including a burnable gas , or transportation and equipment fuel , home cooking fuel and constant warm water, simply means less costly property operations , for your home and equipment, generators and vehicles.
5th, By processing waste through a Digester, less environmental impact is developed locally, from your waste streams which means less pollution in your personal environment.
Here's that video we spoke of above, that you may enjoy for the DIY design and build of a small Digester Tank, from the use common and inexpensive materials. While this is not up to the overall quality of a Georgia Adobe™ designed and custom site installed system, the operation of this small system is a good learning tool for bigger and better production of Biofuels later to come !
